Hipólita Siqueira de Oliveira

Associate Professor

Associate Professor at the Institute of Urban and Regional Planning and Research (IPPUR) at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). She holds a PhD in Economic Development from the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP) (2009), with a doctoral research period at the Doctoral Program in Governance, Knowledge, and Innovation at the Center for Social Studies, University of Coimbra (2007-2008). She earned her master’s degree in Economic Development, Space, and Environment from UNICAMP (2003) and her bachelor’s degree in Economics from the Federal University of Uberlândia (1999).

She served as Coordinator of the Graduate Program in Urban and Regional Planning at UFRJ (2014-2016) and as Director of the National Association of Graduate Studies and Research in Urban and Regional Planning (ANPUR) (2017-2019). She is a member of the CLACSO Group Development, Space, and Global Capitalism and UFRJ’s representative on the Academic Committee for Regional Development at the Association of Montevideo Group Universities (CDR/AUGM). She leads the CNPq Research Group Espaço e Poder and was a visiting professor at the University of British Columbia, Canada (2019-2021). She is a member of the Society for the Advancement of Socio-Economics (SASE) and the Regional Studies Association. She received an Honorable Mention in the 2022 CAPES Thesis Award in the Urban and Regional Planning/Demography category.
