Carlos Antônio Brandão
Full Professor
Full Professor at the Institute of Urban and Regional Planning and Research at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (IPPUR/UFRJ). He is a CNPq Researcher Level 1C. His teaching, research, and extension activities focus on the field of Urban and Regional Planning. He is a Full Professor in Urban and Regional Planning at UFRJ and in Regional and Urban Economics at UNICAMP. He holds a PhD and a Livre-Docência from the Institute of Economics at UNICAMP. He earned his master’s degree from the Center for Regional Development and Planning at UFMG. He completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Social Sciences at the Center for Social Studies of the University of Coimbra and another in Geography at the University of British Columbia. He is the coordinator of the website www.interpretesdobrasil.org.
Works in the following research areas:
i) Regional and Urban Planning, with the aim of studying the processes, dynamics, and concrete cases of territorial public policies;
ii) Social Production of Regional and Urban Spaces, conducting studies on the theoretical foundations of the social production of space, from both Northern and Southern perspectives;
iii) Neoliberalization, Underdevelopment, and Their Spaces, focusing on analyses of the concrete processes of neoliberalization within the specific spaces of underdeveloped, peripheral, and dependent capitalisms.
