Professor Hipolita Siqueira is a Scientist of Our State awardee by FAPERJ

Professor Hipolita Siqueira, coordinator of the Espaço e Poder Research Group, has been awarded funding through the FAPERJ Scientist of Our State Program (CNE).

Going beyond an exclusively macroeconomic approach, the research project — titled “Regional Development in the State of Rio de Janeiro in the Context of Territorial Re-primarization” — advances the perspective of territorial re-primarization, considering the formation of regional enclave economies and their productive, geographical, political, social, and environmental implications.

This issue is particularly relevant to the State of Rio de Janeiro, given the centrality of crude oil extraction and export in its regional economies and development strategies. The main objective is to analyze the implications of territorial re-primarization for Brazilian regional development, with an emphasis on the State of Rio de Janeiro as one of the main loci of this process.

The Scientist of Our State Program, funded by the Carlos Chagas Filho Foundation for Research Support of the State of Rio de Janeiro (FAPERJ), supports projects coordinated by researchers of recognized leadership in their fields, affiliated with teaching and research institutions based in the state of Rio de Janeiro.
