Vitor is a researcher and holds a PhD in Urban and Regional Planning from the Institute of Urban and Regional Planning and Research (IPPUR) at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). He earned his master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning (2019) and a specialization in Urban Policy and Planning (2016) from the same institution. He participated in a research project for the National Institute of Science and Technology (INCT) – Metropolis Observatory, Rio de Janeiro branch (2019), focusing on Metropolitan Economy and Regional Development, changes in the productive base, and the labor market.
His research agenda focuses on the intersection of political economy and territory. In recent years, during his doctoral studies, he has been investigating the evolution of Chinese urban-regional planning over the past decades, viewed as a strategic pillar in the country’s economic and social development process. To this end, he emphasizes the creation and implementation of key concepts, policies, plans, and projects, particularly infrastructure and urban and transport projects, such as high-speed trains, which shape urban-regional development in China.
