Lorenzo Valfré holds a degree in Architecture and Urbanism (2018) from the Federal University of Espírito Santo (UFES) and a master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning (2021) from the Institute of Urban and Regional Planning and Research at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (IPPUR/UFRJ). He is currently a doctoral student at IPPUR/UFRJ, having undertaken a research internship at the Institute of Urban and Territorial Studies at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile (IEUT/UC Chile/2022-2023). His research interests include urban space production, real estate developers, financialization, and housing.

He studies issues related to the production of urban space, strategies of real estate developers, and real estate financialization. His current thesis research aims to understand the characteristics and transformations of housing in the context of financialization in Brazil, where real estate investment funds (REITs) seem to be gaining increasing importance, significantly altering the forms of housing production and intensifying the transformation of housing into a financial asset.
