Fernanda Pernasetti holds a PhD on Urban and Regional Planning from Ippur/UFRJ – with a sandwich period at UBC’s Geography Department (Vancouver) – a master’s degree in Political Science from IESP-UERJ and a bachelor’s degree in International Relations from PUC-Rio. She has worked at the intersection of both third and public sectors as a UN Habitat consultant for the city of Rio de Janeiro (Instituto Pereira Passos) and in NGO’s from Rio and São Paulo. She is a member of the research groups Espaço e Poder (IPPUR / UFRJ) and Futuros da Proteção Social (CEE-Fiocruz).
Her interests and research topics concern social policies, with emphasis on public and private pensions; social security; rounds of neoliberalization and transformations in the (re) distributive capacity of states in Brazil and Latin America.
