Deborah Werner
Assistant Professor
Holds a degree in Economics from the Federal University of Uberlândia (2007), a master’s degree in Economic Development from the Institute of Economics at the State University of Campinas (2011), and a PhD in Urban and Regional Planning from the Institute of Urban and Regional Planning and Research at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (2016). She conducted doctoral research at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS) in Paris, France, funded by the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES).
Professor at the Institute of Urban and Regional Planning and Research (IPPUR) at UFRJ, where she teaches in the Graduate Program in Urban and Regional Planning (PPG-PUR) and the undergraduate program in Public Management for Economic and Social Development (GPDES).
Member of the CNPq Research Group Space and Power and of the CLACSO Working Group Energy and Sustainable Development (2019–2022 / 2023–2025). She also participates in the CAPES/COFECUB research project (2025–2028) Urban Public Services in the Face of Socio-environmental, Technological, and Democratic Challenges. She is a FAPERJ Young Scientist of Our State awardee and a CNPq Productivity Scholarship holder.
