Deborah Werner
Assistant Professor
Holds a degree in Economics from the Federal University of Uberlândia (2007), a master’s degree in Economic Development from the Institute of Economics at the State University of Campinas (2011), and a PhD in Urban and Regional Planning from the Institute of Urban and Regional Planning and Research at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (2016). She conducted doctoral research at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS) in Paris, France, funded by the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES).
She is a professor at the Institute of Urban and Regional Planning and Research (IPPUR) at UFRJ, where she teaches in the Graduate Program in Urban and Regional Planning (PPG-PUR) and the undergraduate program in Public Management for Economic and Social Development (GPDES). She is a member of the Red del Desarrollo Socioeconômico Espacial Latinoamericano (Redsla) and participates in the CNPq Research Group Espaço e Poder. Additionally, she is part of the CLACSO Working Group (2019-2022/2023-2025) on Energy and Sustainable Development and the FAPERJ-funded Emerging Groups project, Territorial Inequalities and Public Services: The State of Rio de Janeiro in the Context of Smart Cities. She is also affiliated with the Network of Researchers at the Center for Global Order Studies at the National Autonomous University of Mexico.
